Just a few days away to Springwatch.
Episode 1
Springwatch, 2018
It is May Bank Holiday and Springwatch is back for a special 90-minute opening show - broadcasting live from the Sherborne Park Estate in the Cotswolds. Chris Packham and Michaela Strachan host, with a plethora of live cameras trained on brand new nests across the Gloucestershire countryside. They are joined by Steve Backshall, the first in a series of special guests on the show this year, and by Gillian Burke, who spends the next three weeks travelling the length of the UK - starting at its northern tip in the Shetlands, where she hopes to see killer whales.

Really looking forward to it but don't want to wish the weekend away!
Learning lots from Springwatch's fact of the day.... for instance... "The blue feathers on Kingfishers are actually a murky brown colour. The blue colourisation arises from how the light bounces around the structure of the feather causing the iridescent colouring!" - who'd have thought?
Looking forward to seeing the Mandarin Duck nest! Also Marsh Tit! Should be a good one I think!

We missed most of last year's incarnations for some reason, so we'll see what happens this year.
I notice there's no mention of Martin on the Presenter team - whatever happened to him?

I think he went off to pastures new, Laurie. Not too sure what was behind it all though.

I did thanks Dave . A good programme especially so as it lasted for 90 minutes Steve Blackshall taking Martins place rummaging around in the water . A nice piece about the Little Owls

Steve was better last night I thought, maybe because he wasn't waist deep in water. Interesting new nest cams it will be good to see the mandarin chicks tumbling out of the tree.

I haven't watched either program yet, I've got so much recorded stuff I'm trying to watch older programs first...

We're exactly like you John. So much stuff recorded there just doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day to get through it all. We've not seen any Springwatch programmes yet either

i did watch the programme which i liked a lot ... although if Chris had held up that slug on his finger in front of me for as long as he did Michaela , i'd have flicked it on the floor and trodden on it There was a super piece about Little Owls ... fisty cuffs with blackbirds whilst the owl was determined to carry on with it's dust bath I'm looking forward to tonight's programme as i never record anything , i find the programme will be shown again within a short time or i can watch them on iplayer . People tell me they don't have time to watch recorded programmes
