My friend in West Sussex sent me a photo of these droppings in her garden - does anybody have any idea who they belong to?

Hi Rodentfan and welcome to the forum. Peculiar, I've never seen animal droppings with grooves in them before. It's not easy to tell from the photo what size they are but they look bigger than mouse droppings. (Sorry, I'm not really being much help am I!)

hi RF1 .... did your friend squeeze the ? droppings to make sure they were what she thinks ? .. did they have an odour that she could describe ? Looks a bit like a pecan nut

Funny, my friend described them as pecans too I told her a scale would be useful but I’m assuming that’s an ivy leaf in the picture if that helps?

A warm welcome to Nature UK Rodentfan
That was my first thought as well, something looks like it has eaten a pecan but not digested it properly.

I think to progress further with a potential id, we might need more information, odour, actual size etc and possibly some closer photos.
