Please, can I have an id on this butterfly? It was very small- see the wheat for scale. Is it a runt of a common species? NW Worcestershire, 1 August 2018.

I wonder if it's a female Adonis blue Joe , check out the link in Dave's post , and click on the Adonis ........the female , and female underside look very similar But i'm no expert by any means , someone will help in a mo

Looking for an ID...same as Grayling.....Common Blue or Brown Argus This one I can see that black dot Ann was talking about so I assume it's a female Common Blue

Paula, I think yours are both Common Blue (although I don't profess to be an expert yet).

Your Common blue, Joe, might be worth sending the photos off to a local branch of butterfly conservation, i'm not sure whether there was any orange present at all in the lunules and it might have been like that from emergence, an odd aberration.
