Very sad Jan ...just read about it...he seemed like a very nice man and I really enjoyed his programmes...laughed at his delight with all the Wrens in his "Wendy Box" and when he got annoyed with the neighbour, whilst trying to film a Mistle Thrush eating berries

Heard the news last night ...what a guy!....watched his stuff and loved his enthusiasm for his local patch and for wildlife in general. His 3 legged Deer, the Buzzard, the Badger hide, all great memories but my favourite has to be him totally "bricking it " as the Boar approached as he hid in the hedgerow 😆 A sad loss to all .

I saw this on the news, it was so sad to hear about it, and such a shock for his family.

Not only a sad loss for everyone who knew him or watched his programs, but I checked his website last night after I'd heard about his death on social media, and it is going to be even harder on his relatives from a financial point of view.
Johnny was doing safaris around the Exmoor area which took 4 hours and each person was charged £100. His bookings for places went right through to the end of October 2018, and they were all fully booked.
There will be a lot of disappointed people who were looking forward to meeting him and enjoying his enthusiasm for the area. He also sells a lot of his paintings and photographs through his website, so time will tell if anyone takes that over or closes it completely.

I knew Johnny and a lot of the family including his parents . It was Thursday morning when i saw him last , in town with Julie , his usual self , laughing and calling to all his friends ......... little did we know You helped me to smile , Paula and John , i remember those incidents well , and many other funny moments , the coracle and the camouflaged hide . I've his books and bought his framed photo of the Little Owls for a friend who also died ( a few years ago ) It's difficult to comprehend . RIP Johnny

It's all the more tragic when a freak accident is the cause.
With a prolonged illness of a relative or friend, you at least have time to come to terms with the worst outcome.
A sudden loss, like this, is always harder to bear.

If I'd gotta be the one to go though, I'd sooner go suddenly in a place I love, doing something I love.
