This is becoming very addictive! I've seen a human now, complete with tripod, camera and large lens but I'm still waiting on the elusive Crested Tit. I did have a slightly better view of a Squirrel this morning.

Very addictive , Ann ......... that's a great capture of the red squirrel
Such a mixture of great , blue and coal tit's ... i saw a couple of chaffinches & the GSW but not the crested one today as yet . I've just seen it the once .
I watched the other evening hoping for a bat , the area was dark but i think the cam must be lit in some way ?

Ooh, that's interesting, maybe a Pine Marten will visit? I used to like the webcam at the Glenmore café but it hasn't been working for ages.

Although the Osprey Centre is closed, the path up to it is still open and people can go up to view the feeder that's on the camera. Bob and I went up there today and I took some photos. You may have noticed that the feeder never seems to empty, and that's because of the ingenious use of a length of plastic drainpipe. This photo was taken from behind the camera and you can see the feeder at the bottom of the drainpipe which is full of Peanuts. I think it's done that way as the feeder is pretty high off the ground and this saves having to fill it very often. This photo shows the feeder and drainpipe with the camera just to the left of the feeder with a light higher up on the tree to the left. There are also some normal peanut feeders on trees lower down that aren't visible from the camera, we saw a Great Spotted Woodpecker on one of them and there were loads of Coal Tits around, one briefly landed on Bob's notebook!

I wondered how the feeder was constantly full , Audrey , and a few posts back asked if you were responsible I look often and have now seen many people standing watching and taking photographs . I've only seen a crested tit once , and now doubt myself . I've seen so many coal tit's , a good few blue tit's , great tit's , chaffinches , the red squirrel and the GSW I'd like to know what is beyond the rope to the right of the picture on the path . Is it a drop or a lot of undergrowth ? I've watched when it gets dark in the hope of seeing a bat , but nothing as yet

Sorry Jen, I missed that. No, I don't fill the feeder, it's Insh Marshes I volunteer at, not Abernethy, I assume it will be either a volunteer or a member of staff. Even though the Osprey Centre is closed, there is still a lot of work that gets done on the wider reserve and most of the staff are based at Forest Lodge but there are weekly guided walks from the centre and occasional other events such as the Goose Roost watch later this month. It doesn't show it in the photos but there's a pulley system to raise and lower the feeder and drainpipe system and I think it would take quite a bit of strength to move it when it's full. The rope you can see in the photo is attached to the Osprey Centre building which can't be seen on the webcam, but you can see it behind this lovely sculpture in the photo I took today, you can also just see the rope to the left of the building. Beyond the rope is a path to the front of the building, there are feeders there in summer and the area is roped off to let the undergrowth regrow.
