Number 1 on page 7 Hazel might be a Laccaria type but i'm very unsure to be honest.

Pam Oh yes, it is one of the hardest groups to identify and with such a huge number of types to compare.

Hi Jen.
Your first one is not a waxcap i'm afraid but the equally beautiful Oudemansiella mucida (Porcelain Fungus).
The second one is a Dacrymycetales rather than a Clavaria and is called Small Stagshorn (Calocera cornea).
Both the above two are associated with wood whilst all waxcaps and clavaria types are associated with soil substrate so these are best found in pastures, fields and lawns with uninproved soil.

Oh that's a surprise ,Dave , i was sure i'd got to grips with the ID of the waxcaps .. .. all goes to show But yesterday in the same breath , i did say we could find a lot of coloured waxcaps in the garden at Marwood , and they are in what was an old pasture , now planted with camelias etc , but never ploughed . The other one i used to find on the lawn in Scotland , and that probably was a Clavulinopsis then ? due to it's surroundings

That's the difference Jen, all waxcaps and clavaria types form on soil substrate on lawns, pastures and fields etc.

The yellow waxcaps on page 7 Hazel are Hygrocybe chlorophana (Golden Waxcap) and can be added to the fungi photo challenge.
